Exit Music (For Our World)
Written and directed by Anna Doyle
Set in the middle of America, with 104 days left on earth before global warming drowns the world, 14-year-old Adrienne Garr is in desperate need of something to believe in. With her sister’s disappearance and her mother’s almost-catatonic depression, Adrienne refuses to give up hope on the world and searches for something to re-spark a forgotten joy in her community. Finding an old book on the Titanic, Adrienne becomes obsessed with the band who played as the ship sank to its historic end. Inspired by the commitment of the band, Adrienne turns to her best friend Ben, and her old orchestra teacher Mr Fisher to help her plan accordingly: to play the most beautiful music as the world drowns.
Exit Music was presented as part of a work-in-progress at the Galway Theatre Festival 2022. It was further commissioned for the Artist at Work development at Dublin Fringe Festival, September 2022.
